What is cosmetic surgery?
This is a form of plastic surgery which is performed for aesthetic reasons. In other words, it is surgery undertaken to improve the physical appearance of the body.
Another form of plastic surgery is reconstructive surgery which is performed as a medical necessity, e.g. burns, breast reconstruction after a mastectomy and scar repair.
What is a cosmetic surgeon?
A surgeon who performs aesthetic surgery for reasons of physical enhancement. In many cases, these surgeons work in the NHS as plastic/reconstructive surgeons but undertake cosmetic surgery as well.
What does a cosmetic surgeon do?
They will perform a variety of procedures which are all geared towards improving an aspect of our physical appearance. This includes some of the following:

- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
- Rhinoplasty (nose job)
- Blepharoplasty (eyelid reshaping)
- Liposuction (fat removal)

- Chin augmentation
- Chemical peels (removes wrinkles etc)
- Dermal fillers (smoothes out lines and wrinkles)
