The risks of a high fat diet
A high fat diet can raise ‘bad’ cholesterol levels in the blood which then increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Other health risks include diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease and some types of cancers.
Coronary heart disease is one of the major causes of death in the UK and is caused by a variety of factors:

- Overweight or obese
- High cholesterol levels
- High blood pressure
- Genetic factors
- Sedentary lifestyle
