Mediterranean Diets

This is based on the dietary habits of people living in Southern Italy and is touted as the ideal ‘heart healthy’ diet. It includes fruit, vegetables, olive oil, nuts and seeds, cereals and fish. It is low in saturated fat and high in monosaturated fat and fibre.

People who follow this diet have lower rates of heart disease, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease and cancer. Another benefit is increased longevity.
