Rumours are flying around about British singer, Leona Lewis when she was attending a function with Canadian singer Justin Bieber.
It seems commentators believed Leona must have had cosmetic surgery because “she looked different”.
Leona was attending a film premiere in Los Angeles wearing a long dark wig, but it was her nose that got more attention, which looked smaller. However representatives for the British star told reporters: “Suggestions she has had cosmetic surgery are total rubbish.”
Leona Lewis rose to prominence after winning the X Factor TV talent show a few years ago. It is therefore not surprising that media reports would look closely at how she and others ‘look’. Cosmetic surgery, in particular Botox treatment was popularised by many celebrities, although it appears to be on the wane among this particular community.
While celebrity involvement in cosmetic surgery may be levelling off, interest in getting work done grew massively last year. Many of the operations were also non invasive. In the US alone 13.1 million cosmetic surgery procedures took place – a 5% increase on 2009 figures.
Common operations were breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, and abdominoplasty, while the top 5 operations include chemical peels and microdermabrasion.
Popularity of other treatments including Botox injections, also increased by a massive 12% last year.
