Pregnancy weight can be an extra burden for many new mothers, giving birth isn’t an automatic ticket to weight loss and for many it is the start of a new battle.
Being famous doesn’t make a difference either, as Mariah Carey, the singer songwriter, will testify. However, after giving birth to her babies earlier this year, Mariah was determined to shed the pounds, which she did it in just 3 months – losing 30 pounds!
Speaking with reporters, the superstar said: “I gained an enormous amount of weight.”
So, how did she do it? Essentially by using a proper regime of nutrition and exercise. Mariah worked with a nutritionist and kept to a work out plan to get her body back in shape, keeping to a 1500 calorie per day diet with thrice weekly workouts.
When asked how she felt now after losing such a huge amount of weight in a short period of time Mariah said: “I feel incredible. It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies. But I felt trapped in my body because I couldn’t move.”
Becoming pregnant was not easy for Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon. She had trouble conceiving in the first place, and then had to endure the heartache of a miscarriage. So finally giving birth to twins – a boy and a girl – and losing a huge weight gain on top, will give the singer a great boost to her confidence.
It should also be a confidence booster to those other women who are also struggling.
Mariah commented: “I’m proud of how hard I worked to get my body back…I had to do this for me.”
