Hair transplants can produce incredible, life-like results, if patients are treated by an experienced cosmetic surgeon, according to Marilyn Sherlock, chairwoman of the Institute of Trichologists.
Ms Sherlock said that hair transplant surgery has come a long way since it was first introduced more than 30 years ago and nowadays, the vast majority of procedures carried out by good cosmetic surgeons were very effective. Over the years, methods and techniques have become more advanced and the modern method of removing a thin strip of scalp tissue from the back of the head and relocating the hairs from this strip to the top of the head is much more effective than older techniques.
Recently, hair transplant surgery has hit the headlines, after it was revealed that actor James Nesbitt had undergone hair transplant surgery. The actor, who was seen on the front pages of the tabloid newspapers sporting a much thicker head of hair, said that he was delighted with the results and pleased he went ahead with the surgery.
