French dentist, Didier Fillion, was recently honoured for his lingual orthodontic work. The honour was given by the British Lingual Orthodontic Society (BLOS).
The BLOS was founded in 2003 by Mr Fillion et al in order to spread the word about the importance of lingual orthodontics. Didier Fillion had learned his trade early on, directly from the inventors of this new technology which has been available for a number of years now.
The orthodontist was given the award to recognise his unflappable belief and commitment to lingual orthodontics.
Announcing the award at the BLOS Spring conference, a colleague of Didier Fillion, and fellow member of the organisation, told the audience that Didier was there at the birth of modern lingual orthodontics, and has continued to be at the forefront of new technologies.
He added that he [Didier] has been a great ambassador for orthodontics in the UK, and that with this in mind the committee agreed that he should be recognised for his work. The colleague went on to say that it was an honour to present Didier with the Life Membership of BLOS.”
Lingual orthodontics is a technique which uses tongue-side (lingual) appliances, allowing the orthodontist to move the teeth into the new position more gently than traditional braces.
As well as receiving a framed certificate, Dr Fillion received a decanter and various other gifts.
