Khloe Kardashian recently opened up to reporters about her longing for children, and the possibility that she may be infertile. However in the same interview she played down this possibility saying: “If it happens, it happens. It takes time, I guess.”
Infertility is a growing problem in the industrialised world with many celebrities now owning up to not being able to have children. While sad on the one hand, it does help others in the same situation to come to terms with the problem.
Generally speaking, young women who have regular unprotected sex usually fall pregnant within a year. Medical scientists do get worried if it takes longer than this. There may not be a problem, but it is also possible that infertility is an issue.
It is known however that women do have bouts of infertility even though they are otherwise healthy. Equally falling pregnant may be an issue of timing.
Khloe Kardashian who married her husband Lamar Odum after just 26 days told reporters: “I don’t know what the problem is.”
Khloe added that the couple have been actively trying for a baby, but unsuccessfully. Hopefully, things will eventually turn out OK for the young couple.
Another celebrity, this time a news anchor for Fox News also ‘came out’ recently over her struggle with infertility. Despite having 2 daughters and a son, Alisyn Camerota did not have it easy getting pregnant. In the end the reporter had to have medical intervention.
What made it worse for Alisyn was she went through the whole thing without telling anyone, not even her own family and closest friends. She told fellow reporters: “It’s just an embarrassing disorder to have.
“It’s hard to talk about with people, and I didn’t want to talk about it with anybody. … I really kept it secret, and so many women do.”
Alisyn added: “It was really painful. It was isolating.”
