What does recovery from RK involve?
You will be given antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops to reduce the likelihood of infection. A bandage or eye patch will be placed over the treated eye.
You may experience some discomfort, aching, throbbing or itchiness although painkillers will deal with this. Some patients report the sensation of ‘having something in their eye’ although this will ease.
Many people report a sensitivity to light for the first 24 hours after surgery but this will disappear.
It will be a week before you have good, working vision. You will be able to return to work and other activities after this time. It is normal for vision to be unstable for the first 3 months after surgery although this does tend to settle down. However, it can take up to a year for this to do so.
