What does recovery from LASIK involve?
There is little to no pain following LASIK and your vision will quickly settle down (a couple of days).
You will need someone to drive you home after surgery. And, once home, have a few hours rest.
You may find that once the anaesthetic has worn off that you experience some discomfort in the form of ‘itching’ but eye drops can help. Please avoid rubbing your eyes during this time as this can cause the corneal flap to move out of position.
You may find that an eye patch useful for this purpose.
It is possible to return to work the next day but your surgeon will advise you against this. He or she will suggest that you take a few days off. Avoid any strenuous activities and sports for the first week following surgery as this can place unnecessary stress on the eye.
