Q19. Are there any side effects with taking alli?
A19. Yes there are although there are side effects with any type of drug. These side effects are likely to occur if you do not follow a low fat, lower calorie diet as recommended.
You can also experience unwelcome side effects if you eat too much fat during a meal. Stick to the recommended guidelines on how many grams of fat to have per meal. If you go over this limit then you will experience unpleasant and embarrassing side effects such as diarrhoea, flatulence, oily stools and/or a desperate urge to go to the toilet.
If you follow the weight loss programme in conjunction with the alli capsules then you should not experience any problems.
Find out more in our alli side effects section.
However, if you pass blood in your stools, develop a rash or a yellowing of your skin and eyes then stop taking alli and consult your GP. Do this if you notice any these or any other side effects.
