Q14. What is strep throat?
A14. This is short for ‘streptococcus’ throat and is a type of throat infection which develops in adults and children. However, children under 7 are most likely to be affected.
Symptoms of a strep throat include hoarse voice, runny nose, fever, cough and a painful sore throat. In some cases, white patches which contain pus will develop on or near the tonsils.
Antibiotics are often prescribed to treat this infection.
