Exercise
Believe it or not exercise can be beneficial in helping you to sleep better and it can be especially beneficial when you are pregnant. A pregnant woman generally feels more tired during the day and with exercise your muscles can be worked just enough to fall asleep at night.
Regular exercise during pregnancy can promote a healthier body and can help you during labour. You should always consult your doctor or midwife regarding which exercises are best for your individual pregnancy circumstances. It is not advised to get overheated during pregnancy as this could be dangerous to the health of your unborn child.
It is recommended to exercise during the afternoon or early evening as your body will be tired enough to drift into a deep sleep by night-time. Exercises you could do range from brisk walking to swimming.
Complimentary Therapies
Complimentary therapies range from herbal products to aromatherapy which aims to relax your body. Often, aromatherapy is used when having a massage as it uses essential oils such as lavender to make you more relaxed before bedtime.
You could try using aromatherapy oils in your bath or simply have your partner put it on for you. This can help you to feel soothed enough to go to sleep.
Professional aroma therapists can aid in giving you a relaxing treatment. You can often find aroma therapists in salons or health spas.
Herbal remedies are naturally made and many herbalists can advise you on the best herbal remedy to take during pregnancy. You should never take a herbal remedy without finding out whether it is suitable for use during pregnancy. They can have potential side effects. As herbal remedies are often made from dry plants and powders, it is always best to confirm its suitability before use.
