Some piercing studio guidelines for pregnant women
If a pregnant mother decides to go ahead and have a piercing done, make sure that the piercer is a professional registered with the local council and that you have the contact details for 24 hour check-up after the procedure. Other health and safety measures to follow-up on are:
- Use of sterile gloves for each procedure
- Use of an autoclave sterilizing unit to sterilize equipment
- clean sterile floors and surfaces in the studio or clinic
- Use of single, disposable needles only
- Use of unopened sterile dressings
- Use of unopened sterile jewellery, preferably of a material less likely to cause allergy or infection
