What to Take
A large part of keeping your baby healthy and happy on holiday is being well equipped. Here is a list of holiday essentials for a baby:
- Nappies. Take one for every hour, or make sure you are able to buy enough when you are on holiday.
- Baby wipes.
- Nappy rash cream.
- First aid kit including infant paracetamol, teething gel, colic treatment, mosquito repellent and saline nose drops.
- Clothes. Take one or two outfits for every day which are appropriate to the weather.
- Travel cot. If you do not have a travel cot, check ahead to see if one can be provided at your accommodation.
- Car Seat. Even if you are not taking or hiring a car, car seats can be used on planes, trains and buses, as well as doubling up as a baby seat.
- Collapsible, lightweight buggy.
- Baby sling.
- Baby blanket for shade and warmth.
- Dummies.
- Sun protection.
- Food, formula, water and juice. Remember beakers, bottles and spoons as well.
- Breast pump.
- Re-sealable plastic bags for dirty nappies etc.
- Night light or torch for night time nappy changes.
- Baby bath and lotion.
- Tissues.
- Washable bibs.
Obviously this is not an exhaustive list, but these are things which no new parent should travel without, especially if you are not familiar with the shopping facilities at your destination. You should also make sure you take some toys to keep the baby entertained.
