Keeping your child entertained

It can be difficult to keep your child entertained during long journeys, but here are some ideas:

Break up your journey; stop for lunch or a drink at a town where there is something interesting for your child to see; this will distract their attention from the journey and give them something interesting to do.
Play games, such as eye spy, which encourage them to look around and can involve the whole family.
Put story tapes/CD’s on in the car
Take plenty of toys and books with you
Remember their favourite blanket/teddy bear/ comforter
Take plenty of drinks and snacks
