Caring for your Baby’s Clothes
It is important to care for your baby’s clothes as your newborn will have soft and sensitive skin. There are ways to take special care when washing and cleaning your baby’s clothes to avoid irritation or allergies, as even the smallest allergic reaction be very uncomfortable for your baby and cause them great discomfort.
Using cleaning products on your baby’s clothes
There are many specially formulated washing powders and detergents available to cater for the skin of babies and young children. Most baby care detergents can be bought from your local supermarket and are readily accessible to use on the most sensitive skin. Some families decide not to use any specialised baby washing product and instead use a normal detergent that does not contain any chemicals or fragrances that pose a risk to your baby’s skin. Some parents also prefer to hand wash their baby’s clothes rather than putting them in the washing machine to mix with other clothes, as they feel this will be more hygienic and enable them to avoid harsh washing powders.
Baby laundry
Your baby will likely need to be changed several times a day due to spills, vomiting and other baby characteristics. Many parents buy extra sets of clothes for their baby so that they can deal with the amount of washing easily. Other parents decide to buy fewer clothes and wash their entire baby’s clothes altogether to save time during the week. There is no right or wrong way to care for your baby’s clothes, as the best thing to do is follow the option which suits you and your partner. Many people will be quick to advise you on how to do things according to their past experiences, but you may feel that you would rather do what you think works best for your family.
Removing stains from your baby’s clothes
You just bought your baby a new outfit and already there is a big stain of raspberry jam on it. Sound familiar? Most parents have this hassle on a regular basis but there are ways to remove stains safely and effectively. There are many sprays you can use to scrub stains away before putting them for washing or alternatively you can ask a member of staff at your local mother and baby outlet for advice on suitable stain removal products for your baby’s clothing.
