Is age an issue with male infertility?
Yes it is. Experts have found that men have a biological clock which ticks in the same way as it does for women. This ticking is a warning of declining fertility due to the ageing process.
People tend to assume that a man’s fertility declines much later than a woman’s but research indicates that it happens around the same time – which is the mid thirties.
So if you were thinking of waiting until you are in your forties to start a family then think again as you are less fertile than when you were younger. And this means an increased risk of birth defects and miscarriage due to poor quality eggs and sperm.
