Can a healthy diet help me to become pregnant?
It can help to boost your fertility as well as improving your overall health. Go for a diet which includes fresh fruit and vegetables, protein and carbohydrates, and reduced amounts of saturated fat.
Reduce or cut out caffeine. This can be difficult as we all enjoy our morning cup of tea or coffee but there are alternatives such as herbal teas or decaffeinated coffee.
Choose foods which are rich in antioxidants, Vitamins C and E and minerals such as selenium and zinc. And consider ‘fertility superfoods’ such as garlic, honey, spinach and avocados.
Go for the best and freshest products you can afford as these will be high in essential nutrients. So look for organic meat and fish, wholegrains, nuts and seeds, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Cut out junk food, processed or ready meals, chocolate, sweets, cakes and any other high sugar foods.
Foods that are ‘low GI’ can help maintain your hormone balance and improve the function of your reproductive system.
