Can taking the pill cause infertility?
The contraceptive pill is a very popular form of birth control for women who see it as an easy and convenient way of preventing an unwanted pregnancy.
But many women worry that long term use of this will affect their ability to conceive.
Most forms of birth control affect fertility on a temporary basis only: once they are stopped fertility usually returns as normally expected. However, some will impact upon fertility.
The good news here is that there is no evidence to suggest that long term use of the pill causes infertility. In fact, you may find that your monthly cycle returns to normal much quicker than you expected!
And, some research suggests that taking the pill enhances your fertility.
So, give your monthly cycle time to adjust itself and function as normal before trying for a baby.
