How long should my partner and I try for a baby?
There is no set answer for this as every couple is different. Some couples find that they conceive a month after trying for a bay whereas others can take up to 2 years to conceive.
If you and your partner are having sex two to three times in a week then you have a 20 to 30% chance of conceiving. This is calculated on a monthly basis.
You can always help things along by taking dietary supplements such as Vitamin E and Zinc; eating healthily, stopping smoking, avoiding alcohol, taking regular exercise and keeping a ‘fertility chart’.
This fertility chart can be used by the woman to monitor ovulation (and the time when she is most likely to be fertile). This includes recording her basal body temperature and examining her cervical mucus.
If you are under the age of 35 (women) and have been trying for a baby for a year then see your GP. If you are over 35 and have been trying for at least 6 months then visit your GP as being older is a factor.
