NHS funded infertility treatment
If you can’t afford to go private then you will have to be treated on the NHS. However, you may be eligible for funding from the NHS to cover the costs of either In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) or Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). But this will only cover a set number of treatment cycles.
Note: a ‘cycle’ is equal to one round of treatment.
And, the number of cycles will vary from area to another in the UK.
What is clear is the number of cycles that the NHS will pay for. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has published a guide to fertility treatment which includes information about funding levels in England and Wales.
