Complications of impotence
Untreated impotence can lead to a range of problems which include:
- Low self-confidence or esteem
- Poor sex life
- Marital/relationship problems
- Stress
- Depression
- Failure to start a family
Another major issue with impotence is that it can be a sign of a serious condition such as heart disease. So, not bothering to seek advice or assuming it will go away may be costly.
Impotence in itself is not life threatening but heart disease is. There is a connection between the two.
Plus impotence can be a warning of a potentially serious condition called arteriosclerosis or ‘ narrowing of the arteries’ which can lead to heart disease. It can also trigger other equally serious conditions such as peripheral vascular disease, aneurysm and strokes.
This risk is further increased if you suffer from diabetes. If you are a diabetic then you have a greater chance of developing impotence and heart disease.
Sometimes there is no distinction between the symptoms and complications of impotence.
