Q4. Is there more than one type of excessive sweating?
A4. Yes. There are two types of excessive sweating which are:
- Primary hyperhidrosis
- Secondary hyperhidrosis
There are a couple of variations within these which include:
- Focal hyperhidrosis
- General hyperhidrosis
As you might have guessed, focal hyperhidrosis is a form of excessive sweating which occurs from a particular area of the body, for example the armpits.
Whereas general hyperhidrosis affects the entire body.
There is also another form of excessive sweating known as ‘night sweats’or ‘sleep hyperhidrosis’ which only occurs during the night.
