Q9. Does what I eat whilst breastfeeding increase the risk of cradle cap?
A9. If you are breastfeeding at present then be aware that whatever you eat will pass through to your baby. Some foods may be triggers for cradle cap if they contain live bacteria or refined sugar as these help to boost yeast production.Yeast is one of the causes of cradle cap. So reducing your intake of sugary, high fat foods will help as will eating fresh fruit, vegetables and wholegrains. Reduce your consumption of processed foods and those which are high in animal fats. Consider taking probiotics (such as Yakult) as these can help to prevent any fungal infections.
