Q4. Is circumcision painful?
A4. No. A local or general anaesthetic will be administered so there will not be any pain.
The one exception to this is where circumcision is performed for cultural or religious reasons. This is very often done so without anaesthesia but it has been found that newborn babies do experience pain even if they cannot testify to that pain.
