Q28. What lifestyle changes will I have to make?

A28. Your GP will advise you to adopt some or all of the following if you have high blood pressure. These include:

  • Losing weight -if you are overweight or obese
  • Switching to a low fat diet
  • Limiting the amount of salt in your diet
  • Taking regular exercise
  • Reducing your stress levels
  • Reducing the amount of alcohol you drink
  • Taking your blood pressure medication (if necessary)
