Q17. What is Prednisolone?

A17. Prednisolone is a popular type of corticosteroid (steroid) which is prescribed for cases of arthritis. It is taken once a day in tablet form and helps to dampen down the symptoms of arthritis.

There is another form of this tablet called ‘enteric-coated’which is designed to be swallowed whole and dissolves very slowly in the stomach. This reduces the risks of stomach upsets and other similar side effects.

There are side effects with prednisolone as with any type of steroid which your GP will discuss with you beforehand.
