What is chronic actinic dermatitis?

Chronic actinic dermatitis is a rare condition that affects primarily middle-aged men. There are lichenified plaques on parts of the skin which have been exposed to the sun, meaning that the skin is thicker than normal, with any skin creases exaggerated. It can also be itchy, and there might be a sharp border where clothing starts.

Treatment is centred around avoiding sunlight. In some cases, people may require steroid creams to lessen the symptoms.
