What is pompholyx?
Pompholyx is also known as dyshidrotic eczema. Blisters and skin lesions can appear on the hands and feet, particularly on the soles of the feet or palms of the hand and palmar surfaces of the fingers. These are extremely itchy and itching might cause the skin to become thick and leathery. Scratching blisters will cause them to crack and release chemicals into the skin, this can be painful. Blisters are typically less than 3 mm across.
Causes can include excessive stress, allergic and irritant contact dermatitis, atopic eczema, heat, nickel, or infections (such as fungal infections).
