Q18. How is acne treated?
A18. This depends upon the type of acne you have. A mild case can be treated using a good skin care product and washing the face twice daily.
A moderate or severe form will require a prescription medicine such as a topical cream or an oral medicine. Severe forms usually involve referral to a dermatologist.
Light therapy and laser treatment are another option although you will have to pay privately for these. If your acne doesn’t respond to a home-based treatment then visit your GP.
