Q11. Can you inherit varicose veins?

A11. Yes you can. Heredity plays a major part in that it is possible for several members of the same family to develop varicose veins.

If either of your parents or a close relative have varicose veins then there is a higher than normal risk that you will do the same.

But this is not set in stone. There are ways of reducing this risk which are covered in our preventing varicose veins section.
