What does the recovery process involved in thigh lift surgery?

The aftercare process is a vital part of your cosmetic treatment. This takes the form of follow up visits in which your wounds will be checked and stitches removed if necessary. The aim of these check ups is to keep an eye on your progress after thigh lift surgery.

You can expect your thighs to feel tight, sore and swollen after surgery but this is completely normal. You may have to wear a special compression garment during this time which is a temporary measure and is designed to reduce any swelling.

You will be given antibiotics to reduce infection and medication to control and pain or discomfort.

If non-dissolvable stitches have been used then these will need to be removed a week after your surgery. Any deeper stitches will be removed two to three weeks post-surgery.

As with any form of surgery, rest and take things easy. Expect to be sore and bruised, and tired as well. Avoid any strenuous activities or contact sports for 4 to 6 weeks.

Every patient varies when it comes to recovery but you are looking, on average, at two to three weeks before you are fully recovered and able to return to work.
