Scienta dermaroller

The Scienta dermaroller is a well crafted device with an emphasis on ease of use. It is a popular brand of roller that is designed to be used at home and compares well against its competitors.

An additional feature and one that is only offered by this company is a ‘three line roller’. This roller contains a smaller and narrower barrel (complete with micro-needles) which allows it access to those hard to reach areas on the face.

The Scienta dermaroller can be sterilised by using sterilising fluid used for babies’ bottles. This is available from your local supermarket or pharmacist.

Scienta roller design and function

This is an attractive looking roller which is tan coloured in appearance and produced to the highest standards. This roller consists of a long handle and barrel into which are fixed 192 micro-needles.

These needles are produced from surgical steel and come in a range of different sizes.

Needle sizes for the Scienta roller range from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm. There are larger sizes - 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm but these tend to be for professional use only.

The three line roller contains micro-needles of 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm.

The size of micro-needle is based upon the type of skin problem, area to be treated and personal preference. Smaller needle such as the 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm are suitable for treating small ‘ice pick’scars and light stretch marks. Larger needle sizes such as 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm are aptly suited to deep scars, such as keloid scarring and cellulite removal.

This roller can be used on most areas of the body and the face. However, great care must be taken when using it near the eyes and lips. Do not roll it over the eyelids or lips.

The concept behind Scienta roller

This dermaroller is used in the same way as any other type of roller. It works by creating tiny pinpricks on the skin which is caused by the contact between this and the micro-needles as the roller is moved over the skin.

These pinpricks do not cut or damage the skin. They do not cause any bleeding and cause a tickling sensation instead of any discomfort.

The aim of the Scienta roller is to open the pores of your skin which then triggers your body into a state of repair and regeneration. Your body perceives this as a form of ‘damage’ which it responds to be producing two important proteins –collagen and elastin.

These proteins help to improve the appearance of your skin. They tighten and firm it as well as increasing the thickness which removes any signs of injury or damage.

This is usually combined with skincare products and vitamin enriched moisturisers which boost the healing process.

This treatment is repeated over several days in order to continue this process and the results.

How to use the Scienta roller

You will find this an easy device to use. Just move it over your skin (but do not force it) in a series of forward and backward motions. Do this as per the enclosed instructions.

A good way of using it is to think of a compass and its four points: so move the roller across your skin in a north, south, east and west set of actions. Think: four points equals four movements across your skin.

You have the option of using the roller once a week only but in an intense manner, or gentle use for up to five times a week. Please be aware that you will notice the tickling sensation more on your face than your body.

Cost of the Scienta roller

Prices start from £55 for a single Scienta roller through to £139 for a pack of three rollers. There is also the option to purchase the vitamin enriched skin cream.

It is often more cost effective to buy something in bulk rather than as a single item which also applies to dermarollers. So you may prefer to buy a multipack of rollers.

If you wish you can buy a bundle which includes the Scienta roller, the ski cream and an anti-bacterial wipe.
