Do I have to pay for this Orthodontics treatment?
You can be treated on the NHS if you are aged under 18 or a student in full time education up to the age of 19. This equally applies if you are on a low income, in receipt of benefits, are pregnant or a nursing mother.
If you don’t fall into any of these categories then you will have to pay.
If your condition is serious then the NHS might pay but generally, they class this as a cosmetic problem rather than a medical necessity. This means paying for treatment.
Your other option is to ‘go private’. The orthodontist will be able to discuss the cost of treatment with you so that you are fully aware of the cost before you start.
